On April 21, the Board is expected to vote on the County budget, which includes approximately $200 million tied to the Judicial Center expansion — a project that has direct implications for the future of the Old Bennett School. The topic will also continue at the joint interjurisdictional meeting on May 13.

Hi, I’m a Manassas resident. I only recently learned that demolition of the Old Bennett School is being considered, and I think a lot of people are just now becoming aware. I’d really appreciate more opportunity for the community to understand what’s being proposed and what options might exist.
My family has ties to this area, and places like the Old Bennett School are part of how we stay connected to that history. Once something like this is gone, it’s gone. I’d just ask that preservation options are fully considered before anything moves forward.
I’m not here to oppose growth or improvements. I understand those are needed. I just think there’s a way to balance that with preserving places like the Old Bennett School, and I’d like to see those options explored.
I’m here to say I support preserving the Old Bennett School if possible. It’s part of the character of this area, and I think it’s worth taking the time to explore.
I think this issue deserves its own public meeting. Somewhere people can hear the facts, ask questions, and understand the options. Right now it feels like people are trying to catch up.
I know no decisions are being made tonight, but this is exactly when public input matters most. With the May 13 meeting coming up, I hope community voices are part of the conversation early.
Even if the building can’t stay exactly as it is, I’d love to see adaptive reuse options explored. Other communities have found ways to make that work.
