“To preserve a lasting tangible link to our shared past.”
“The Bennett School is an architectural treasure, a piece of our county’s living history and a milestone of racial equality, and a symbol of post civil war unification.”
“It’s a jewel sitting atop of a hill.”
“There is no reason why it cannot be saved and integrated into the new Judicial Center plan.”
“This building can be incorporated into the expansion of the judicial center and allow it to continue to give a glimpse into our past while still expanding into our future.”
“Repurposing may be cheaper than an entire new structure and better use of taxpayer money.”

Built in 1909, the Old Bennett School reflects more than a century of Manassas educational and civic history. The Virginia Department of Historic Resources has determined the building is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

As plans for the Prince William County Judicial Campus move forward, the Bennett School represents an opportunity. Historic buildings can be thoughtfully integrated into modern civic spaces.

For generations, the Bennett School helped shape the story of Manassas. Landmarks like this connect past residents to the community that lives and works here today.
